Zafran : Indian Bistro had a rebranded identity with an upgraded menu which always makes me appreciate peoples hard work, Zafran got a total lift in both atmosphere and cuisine level.
The restaurant which was formerly known to be located in Salmiya have a new home at Lights Complex in Mahboula and now called “ZAFRAN INDIAN BISTRO” with lavish designs that reflects the British bistro feel designed by Bishop L.LC in Dubai as a prototype to how the brand is going to head and you could feel that right from the door.
We have been escorted to our table and recommended some of the new dishes but being a returning customers we were happy by the upgrade in both hospitality and the menu, Zafran team has crafted a menu that would cater to most tastes, with their signature flavors.
We have started with
Dahee kebab
I loved the texture and the fusion of flavors in this one which consists of deep fried yogurt.
Aloo Tikkia
Which is deep fried potato as well served on a bed of chickpea masala
Quite tasty I might add and has a strong flavor.
Then we got the Kebabs served as I have been recommended with the Tandoori King Prawns and The Kebab Platter to have a taste of most of the dishes
The Kebab Platter consists of three kinds of chicken “Malai Tikka which is not spicy and juicy, Chicken Tikka which is somehow mild, and the Bhatti Chicken with a Rampuri Seekh Kebab which is minced meat with Carinder , cumin and garam masala.
As for a main course ” oh yes we didn’t reach it yet”
We tried the prawn coconut curry and this dish specially is one of my favorite dishes at Zafran, not only the seasoning but the flavor and the idea is unlike everywhere else.
The chief has recommended the Butter chicken and wanted us to try it
Which Is a traditional dish and would be found at most indian restaurants, Zafran had an extra kick with the flavor.
Of course the last was Zafran Biryani which is also a traditional dish but had Zafran special seasoning.
And last but not least their special Desserts sampler which had a variety of indians delicacies that gave us the happy ending.
Price wise the resturant is decently priced in an affordable range, comparing to the quality of the dishes they are offering.
I would rate the overall experience with 4/5
